Mandatory Parent Meeting for New Families
All parents of cast members NEW to EDMT must attend the PARENT MEETING Thursday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. where you will receive important information critical to the success of the cast member and show. A drawing for FREE show tickets when you sign up for a number of volunteer roles that evening!
Rehearsals
Rehearsals for "The Wiz" will begin Monday, February 18. Cast members new to EDMT will rehearse from 3:30-5:00 pm and leads will rehearse from 3:30-6:00 pm that day.
Our regular rehearsal schedule will be Mondays (leads), Tuesdays (everyone) and Thursdays (everyone). It is extremely important that you download a calendar from the website and mark any schedule conflicts and present them with registration forms on audition day. Please do not register if your schedule has more than more than 3 conflicts on NON-mandatory dates. NO absences are allowed during mandatory rehearsals, tech week or performance dates.
Mandatory rehearsals begin April 14 and the show runs from April 25 - May 4 at Oak Ridge High School.
Refund Policy
Auditioned registrants will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $25.00 processing fee if they remove themselves from the cast on the day of auditions. The parent participation deposit will be refunded in full. Auditioned registrants will receive one/half refund of tuition, minus a $25.00 processing fee, and their parent volunteer deposit, if they remove themselves from the cast before the cast list is posted. The parent participation deposit will be refunded in full. NO refunds in tuition will be made once the cast list is posted on the EDMT website except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, or a medical injury, serious illness or surgery not known about prior to auditions. The parent participation deposit will be refunded in full. NO refunds of tuition or of parent volunteer deposits will be given to cast members removed from the cast by EDMT staff for behavioral reasons.
Note: Auditionees and their parents are aware that rehearsals are strenuous and require the cast member to have the ability to focus for 45-60 minutes at a time.
Show Overview
While similar in plot to "The Wizard of Oz", The Wiz transforms the show into a more fun, funky modern version. Dorothy, the little girl from Kansas is blown by a tornado into Munchkinland in the Land Of Oz. While there she meets the Scarecrow, the Tinman & the Cowardly Lion on the Yellow Brick Road. She defeats the evil witch and goes to see the powerful Wizard who turns out to be a phony. However, he is able to convince Dorothy that she can do anything she wants if she just believes in herself. Dorothy also realizes the importance of home and her family.
